Can i make a makeshift muffler for my pocket rocket out of PVC pipe?

I have a Cagllari pocket rocket which is quite loud. I'd like to tone down the noise a bit and i was wondering if it was possible to make somewhat of a muffler out of PVC pipe. Would this work or am i just going to waste my time?
