Will water on my tomato plant's leaves burn them?

Hi, I was wondering if it was bad to get water on a tomato plant's leaves when watering them in the morning? Some of my plant's leaves appear to be a bit burned, and I was wondering if it was maybe because I got water on them. Conversely, is it actually good for the plant to get water on the leaves, especially on a hot day? (I'm thinking like evaporation = cooling effect as it does for animals). Thank you thank you!
